Focus and Scope
Insani: Jurnal Pranata Sosial Hukum Islam is an academic journal publishing scholarly articles and research findings on Islamic law, employing social, cultural, and humanitarian approaches. The primary focus of this journal is the study of Islamic law as a living social institution, evolving within the context of Indonesian and Southeast Asian societies.
The journal encourages interdisciplinary studies of Islamic law, covering areas such as:
- Fiqh and uṣūl al-fiqh, in both normative and contextual dimensions;
- The sociology of Islamic law, legal anthropology, and legal psychology;
- Culture, customs, and local norms that interact with Islamic law;
- Islamic economics, legal politics, and the philosophy of Islamic law;
- The study of Islamic astronomy ('ilm al-falak), as well as the history and doctrines of Islam, shapes the social institutions of Islamic law.
Insani: Jurnal Pranata Sosial Hukum Islam prioritises empirical and theoretical approaches to the dynamics of Islamic law in social and cultural practice, including how Islamic law is negotiated, implemented, and interpreted within plural societies. Submitted articles are expected to offer novelty, contextual scientific contributions, and relevance to the realities of Islamic law in contemporary society.
