Author Guidelines

A. Introduction

Insani: Jurnal Pranata Sosial Hukum Islam is a high-quality open access peer-reviewed research journal published by the Mahkota Science Publishers. The focus is to provide readers with a better understanding of Islamic jurisprudence and law concerning plurality and living values in Indonesian and Southeast Asian society by publishing articles and research reports.

Insani: Jurnal Pranata Sosial Hukum Islam specializes in Islamic jurisprudence and Indonesian and Southeast Asian Islamic law and aims to communicate original research and relevant current issues. This journal warmly welcomes contributions from scholars of related disciplines. Insani: Jurnal Pranata Sosial Hukum Islam has been available online since July 10th, 2025.

It aims primarily to facilitate scholarly and professional discussion over current developments on Islamic jurisprudence and law concerning Indonesian and Southeast Asian plurality and living values. Publishing articles exclusively in English, the journal aims to expand the boundaries of Indonesian and Southeast Asian Islamic Law discourses, thereby reaching a broader audience of English-speaking contributors and readers worldwide. Hence, it welcomes contributions from international legal scholars, professionals, representatives of the courts, executive authorities, researchers, and students.

Insani: Jurnal Pranata Sosial Hukum Islam basically contains topics concerning Jurisprudence as well as Indonesian and Southeast Asian Islamic law society. Novelty and recency of issues, however, are the priority in publishing. The range of contents covers established jurisprudence, Indonesian and Southeast Asian Islamic law society, local culture, and various approaches on legal studies such as comparative Islamic law, political Islamic law, sociology of Islamic law and the likes.

B. How to Write the Title, the Name, and the Authors’ Address

The title of the manuscript should be on the top of the first page with the center text alignment. Meanwhile, the author’s name, affiliation, and address should be mentioned at the manuscript and not exceed than 5 authors while the email is only mentioned for the corresponding author. Communication regarding the article revision and the final statement will be informed via email to the corresponding author only as listed at the metadata. It is suggested that the authors collaborate with researchers from diverse countries/continents.

  1. The Manuscript General Guidelines

General Guidelines for Manuscript Preparation:

  1. Originality: The manuscript must represent original research that has not been previously published or is under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  2. Plagiarism Policy: The manuscript must be free from plagiarism. Authors are required to verify this using the Turnitin application, ensuring a similarity index below 20%. The Turnitin report must be submitted with the manuscript. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism will be immediately rejected by the editorial board.
  3. Formatting and Template: Manuscript writing guidelines and templates are available for download on the homepage of Insani: Jurnal Pranata Sosial Hukum Islam in MS Word (.doc/.docx) format.
  4. Online Submission: Detailed instructions for the online submission can be found in the “Submission” section.
  5. Manuscript Structure: The manuscript must include the following sections: (1) Title, (2) Abstract and Keywords, (3) Introduction, (4) Methods, (5) Results and Discussion, (6) Conclusion, (7) Declaration of Conflicting Interests, (8) Funding Information, and (9) Acknowledgment. Manuscripts not adhering to this structure will be rejected.
  6. Section Headings: The main section headings (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion) must be formatted in bold and title case, left-aligned, without underlining. Subheadings within these sections should be formatted in bold and left-aligned.
  7. Language and Length: Manuscripts must be written in clear, standard English. The full text, including abstract, references, and footnotes, should be 5,000 to 8,000 words, using Book Antiqua font, size 11, with single line spacing.
  8. Special Formatting: Uncommon or foreign words must be italicised. All numbers should be in Arabic numerals, except when beginning a new sentence.
  9. Tables and Figures: Tables, figures, and other visual elements must be embedded within the text and numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals. Each must have a title above and a caption below, and be centred within the text. Ensure that all visual elements are clear and legible. Tables should avoid vertical lines; horizontal lines should only be used for emphasis where necessary.

 

D. The Guidelines for the Manuscript Body Text

The title of the manuscript: The title should be informative and be written both briefly and clearly. It cannot diverse multi interpretations. It has to be pinpoint with the issues that will be discussed. The beginning word is written in the capital case and symmetrically. The article title does not contain any uncommon abbreviation. The main ideas should be written first and followed then by its explanations. The article title should be written within sixteen words, 13pt-sized font, with the bold selection and in the center text format.

Abstract: This Abstract section should be typed in Book Antiqua and font size of 10 pt while the number of words is around of 150-200. Special for this section, please use left and right margin of 10 mm. The single spacing should be used between lines in this article. The abstract should be typed as concise as possible and should be composed of: problem statement, method, scientific finding results, and short conclusion. The abstract should only be typed in one paragraph and one-column format. Keywords are min 4 words and max. 5 words using font Book Antiqua 10 pt.

Introduction: The introduction provides essential background to situate the study within its broader context and to guide readers toward the research methods employed. This section should concisely outline the general problem, position the study within existing literature, and clarify its contribution and novelty. All information sourced from previous works must be appropriately cited to emphasise the originality and relevance of the research. The introduction should conclude with a clear statement of the research objective and the main argument or hypothesis of the article.

Methods: The Methods section should provide sufficient detail to enable readers to understand the practical steps taken in the research. Rather than offering lengthy conceptual explanations of methods or approaches, focus on describing how the data were collected, coded, and analysed. If relevant, this section may also include the rationale for selecting specific theoretical frameworks used in the study.

Result and Discussion: The Results and Discussion section should be structured according to the research questions or objectives, with clear subheadings to ensure logical flow. Present the main findings first, followed by supporting results, and provide a comprehensive discussion encompassing analytical, interpretative, implicative, constructive, and comparative perspectives. Figures, tables, and other visualisations should be included in this section and provided in editable formats and high resolution if necessary. Although results and discussion are presented together, it is essential to clearly distinguish between the presentation of data and their interpretation within the broader theoretical or contextual framework.

Conclusion: The Conclusion should succinctly state the main implications and significance of the findings, directly addressing the research problem or question about the broader theme. This section should also acknowledge the study's limitations and offer suggestions for future research. Detailed justifications for the conclusions are not required, as these should be provided in the Discussion section. By reading the Introduction and Conclusion, readers should be able to grasp the research's focus, key findings, and contributions, even without referring to other sections.

Declaration of Conflicting Interests: The authors declare that there is no conflict of interest in the publication of this article. If any conflict exists, please state it clearly in this section.

Funding Information: Please provide detailed information regarding the source(s) of funding for this research. If the research did not receive any specific grant from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors, please state: "The authors received no specific funding for this research."

Acknowledgment: The authors thank all individuals and parties who contributed to this research. Special appreciation is extended to advisors, funding supporters, and other individuals or institutions providing significant assistance. Please specify the names and roles of those who contributed, including financial support, academic guidance, or other forms of involvement.

Bibliography: References must be compiled alphabetically following the Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition, and managed using the Mendeley reference manager. Use Book Antiqua font size 11, single spacing. A minimum of 30 references is required, with at least 80% drawn from primary sources (such as journals, theses, dissertations, and other research) published within the last ten years. The remaining 20% may be secondary sources (books and other relevant publications). Provide the DOI in the full URL format for all electronically available references whenever possible.

E. The Guidelines for Literature Reviews, Citations and References

Authors are suggested to cite several articles from Insani: Jurnal Pranata Sosial Hukum Islam. All the presented data or quotes should attach the reference sources. The references and literature review should use Mendeley reference application manager. The writing format in Insani: Jurnal Pranata Sosial Hukum Islam follows the format applied by CMS (Chicago Manual Style) 17th referencing style.

F. The Online Submission Manuscript Guidelines

The manuscript text submission must be through these following steps: Firstly, register a. Firstly, register as either an author or reviewer (check the role as author or reviewer) in the “Register” bottom.

  1. After the registration step is completed, log in as author then click at “New Submission” column. The article submission stage consists of five stages, namely: (1). Start, (2). Upload Submission, (3). Enter Meta data, (4). Upload Supplementary Files, (5). Confirmation.
  2. In the “Start” column, choose Journal Section (Full Article) and check all the checklists.
  3. In the “Upload Submission” column, upload the manuscript files in MS. Word format.
  4. In the “Enter Metadata” column, fill in with all of the author data and affiliation, including the Journal Title, Abstract and Indexing Keywords.
  5. In the “Upload Supplementary Files” column, upload supplementary files, the statement letter, or any other else (if any).
