Insani: Jurnal Pranata Sosial Hukum Islam is a reputable, open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal published biannually (July and December) by Mahkota Science Publishers. The journal focuses on Islamic law as a social institution, examining its interactions with culture, society, and local norms within Muslim communities, particularly in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

This journal emphasises current and contemporary Islamic legal scholarship studies, employing theoretical and empirical approaches. The scope covers various disciplines intersecting with Islamic law as a social institution, including sociology, anthropology, psychology, law, economics, politics, history, philosophy, and Islamic astronomy ('ilm al-falak). The journal aims to promote scholarly contributions that reflect the diversity, dynamics, and lived realities of Islamic law in pluralistic societies.

Insani: Jurnal Pranata Sosial Hukum Islam welcomes submissions from academics and researchers across various disciplines. The originality of topics (novelty), contextual relevance, and academic rigour are of utmost priority in the publication process. All articles published do not necessarily reflect the views of the journal or its affiliated institutions.

The word "Insani" comes from the Arabic al-insān, meaning human being, and in this context symbolizes the human, social, and moral dimensions inherent in every practice of Islamic law. Thus, the choice of the name "Insani" is not merely an identity, but a representation of this journal's vision: to present Islamic legal studies that go beyond normative texts and emphasize the human and social aspects, as well as their interaction with local culture, society, and norms.

The contributing institutions include Kırklareli University, Al-Azhar University, Islamic University of Madinah, Bursa Uludağ University, Yibin University, Yarmouk University, Erciyes University, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Mutah University, Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kalijaga, Institut Agama Islam Negeri Sultan Amai, Karabük University, Universitas Boyolali, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Federal University of Kashere, Universitas Islam Negeri Mataram, Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Sadra, Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, Universitas Islam Negeri Mahmud Yunus, Institut Agama Islam Qamarul Huda, Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara, Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Mempawah, and Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University. The authors represent a diverse range of academic and geographical backgrounds, with contributions from Indonesia, Malaysia, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, and China, reflecting this publication's international scope and collaborative nature.
